Ignis will work in the city, and in the version with the drive 4×4 – also on country roads. Compact body with small dimensions gives away, that Suzuki Ignis is a city car. Inside the car you will find many functional solutions, which make it a comfortable vehicle also suitable for longer trips. Above all, it deserves praise for the higher level of finish than in the previous model. Clear indicators, integrated audio system and good soundproofing of the cabin – it all does, that the journey is comfortable. The driver will appreciate the high seat – thanks to this solution, the visibility behind the steering wheel has improved.
This, which you will not notice at first glance, and what distinguishes Ignis from typical representatives of class B, there is a drive on both axles (The offer also includes a version driven only by the front wheels).
I drove Ignis with a gasoline engine 1.5 WT (100 KM). The dynamic unit has been specially designed for the new version of the model (the predecessor was powered by a motor 1.3). The car drives well and sticks to the track confidently. For acceleration to 100 km / h front-wheel drive version needs 10,4 s, maximum speed is 165 km/h, a average fuel consumption – 6,7 1/100 km. Variation 4×4 it's a little slower (0-100 km / h reaches in 11 s) and has a greater appetite for gasoline – medium 7,21/100 km. There is nothing to expect, that he can handle rough terrain, but it should work both in winter on icy streets, and at any time of the year on country roads.
A small and ineffective trunk is a certain glitch. It holds just 245 l, even for a city car, this is not an extraordinary result. With the backrest folded down, you get more cargo space, however, the floor is not even, which makes it difficult to transport larger luggage.
Even the cheapest Ignis trim level will feature ABS with EBD and two front airbags. For an additional fee, you can have side airbags for the driver and passenger, electric windows and mirrors, and air conditioning.
In addition to the engine known from the previous version of the car 1.3 and the unit described 1.5 (it will go on sale in autumn 2004 r.) The offer will also include diesel from Bielsko with direct fuel injection 1.3 DDiS with the power of 70 KM. The version with the engine 1.5 can be ordered with a four-speed automatic transmission.
