The name Brabham has been known in the world of motor racing since 1959 year, when Jack Brabham became world champion for the first time on a Cooper-Climax.
W 1961 year, Jack Brabham became independent and together with his Australian friend Ron Tauranac he founded Motor Racing Developments Ltd. Initially, cars of the Junior formula called Repco Brabham were produced. The first part of the name came from the Australian Repco concern, with whom Brabham worked.
The first formula car 1 of this company appeared in the German Grand Prix race in Nurburgring in 1962 year. It uses a Coventry Climax V8 engine. This year, Brabham took second place and was fourth twice. The following year, American Dan Gurney joined the players' team.
