The dust from the bombs and missiles has not settled yet, and we were already thinking about rebuilding the country, about reviving our automotive industry. In spite of enormous difficulties, a group of enthusiasts already thought about the future of Polish industry, transport and road construction. In the difficult post-war years, owning your own vehicle was pure abstraction. It is worth saving these from oblivion, who decided to change it.
During the Second World War, our industry was almost completely destroyed. War and occupation destroyed the limited, but not the worst in our measure, achievements of automotive producers in the interwar period. The facilities of the Passenger Cars and Vans and Motorcycles Factory of the State Engineering Works in Praga in Warsaw were completely destroyed.. Machine tools and machines were completely stripped of Zakłady Mechaniczne Ursus. The production halls were empty, just before the war in the start-up phase, Lilpop Car Factory, Vegetable, Loewenstein in Lublin. They were in ruins: Sanocka Wagon Factory, Huta Ludwików in Kielce, Starachowice Plant, Kuźnia Ustroń and many other factories, on the basis of which the foundations of the post-war automotive industry could be created. It was necessary to recover the machine park stolen by the occupant and to modernize it. There was a shortage of highly qualified personnel, especially in provincial plants, there was practically no construction and research base, the resources of the cooperative industry were scarce. There was no coordination of establishments, that could work together in the production of materials, semi-finished products and finished products.
