PACKARD TWELWE – year 1933

The beginning of the history of this brand is associated with the city of Warren, in the US state of Ohio, where two entrepreneurs, J. W. Packard and George Weise founded an electrical equipment workshop. Young Packard realized early enough, that car production has a future and he founded a car company with his brother. W 1899 r. the first Packard appeared, designated model A.
The Twin Six is one of the most famous models, constructed in 1915 r. It was the first American car with an engine 1 2-cylinder. Thanks to this model, the Packard brand became one of the leading manufacturers of luxury cars, such as: Pierce-Arrow i Peerless. The main constructor, Jess G, made a great contribution here. Vincent, who, like his team of colleagues, placed emphasis on every detail of the car, driving comfort, aesthetics and, not least, durability.
The body was characterized by durability, constructed in cooperation with the most outstanding American stylists - Dietrich, le Baron, Brewster, as well as individual bodies, manufactured to order from Roolston, Waterhouse and others.
The Packard Twelwe model had a 12-cylinder displacement V engine 7300 cm3. Water cooling was provided by a centrifugal pump and a fan with a thermostat. The engine had a synchronized gearbox and a centrifugal clutch. The rigid bridges were attached to the longitudinal frame with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Mechanical drum brakes worked on all of them 4 wheels. The car developed its maximum speed 160 km/h.
Packard and Studebaker merged into 1954 r., creating a joint production program. W 1958 r. the Packard brand has disappeared.
