Opel Corsa has been offered on the Polish market for several years and is still popular. There is a theory, which says, that the same amount of money can be equally successfully spent on the basic version of a higher class car, which is a well-equipped variant of a car belonging to the lower market segment. Someone will share this view, who doesn't care about cheap prestige, only determined by the engine power, which can hardly ever be used to the full anyway, and along the length of the vehicle, which is the main source of parking problems. If, moreover, it mainly moves around the city, only rarely on longer journeys, should seriously consider buying a Corsa 1.2 16V with a package of additional items, increasing driving comfort and safety (np. ABS system, air conditioning, two airbags, electrically operated windows).
The careful finish and clear attention to detail inspire confidence in the vehicle's structure as well. Instrument panel, though you can see, that some time has passed since it was designed, groups indicators and switches in a logical and readable manner. Exemplary placement deserve attention (on the inside of the door) adjustment buttons for electric windows and exterior mirrors. Switching on the cabin lighting lamp was also clearly solved, by pressing the diffuser. The driver sits comfortably, however, the pedals are close together, and leg room is a bit lacking. The ability to change the position of the steering column would also be useful. Visibility to the front and to the sides is not objectionable, however, the area not visible in the right mirror is too large, and the high position of the third brake light sometimes makes it difficult to see the road behind the car. Travelers may also be disturbed by the small storage capacity and the small number of compartments. Remote would be a useful facility, via links, opening the boot lid and fuel filler. Blower, efficient and compatible with closed air circulation, in third and fourth gear it is already too loud.
Rear seat passengers have more than enough legroom. For their safety, there are three (which is not yet a rule in this class of vehicles!) headrests, very easily possible when necessary (which also does not always happen) remove and one static and two inertia seat belts; the latter with height adjustment of the upper anchorage point (again a rarity in this class of cars). The rear seat has the option of gradual tilting of the backrest, which in some cases facilitates better use of space. The luggage compartment does not impress with its capacity, but thanks to the appropriate suspension design (torsion beam, trailing arms and coil springs) has regular shapes, and the wheel arches do not interfere too much with the distribution of the load. Its enlargement takes place after folding all or part of the backrest and the non-split seat. This procedure does not pose any problems, and the locks and locking catches make a very solid impression. The free ends of the straps are fastened in the holders. The high loading edge makes it difficult to load the luggage, and the floor of the useful space is uneven when the seat is folded. The attention to detail is visible even in such prosaic elements, like the carpet in the boot, which was pinned with a few clips to the rear beam.
The car drives confidently, but from the list of additional equipment a steering assist device should be ordered. Its absence requires the use of considerable force when maneuvering. The gear lever is not very precise at times. An idle drive unit does not put high demands on the traction units or the brakes; their characteristics and efficiency far exceed the capabilities of the engine. The dynamics of the car remains at a satisfactory level in city traffic, driving at full load on the highway will hardly be his element. On the other hand, when traveling with two people at a moderate speed, the vehicle is satisfied with a small amount of fuel. Average consumption over a 600 kilometer route, running along the usual roads, amounted to 6,3 dm3 / 100 km, in the city was enough 8,7 dm3 / 100 km, average service life is 7,5 dm3 / 100 km.
