Support for bridges with hypoid gear.
When operating a drive axle with a hypoid gearbox, special hypoid gear oils should be used. Using the wrong oil for these gears leads to rapid wear of the gears. Please note, that too little oil causes faster wear of the drive axle parts. The breather air channels must be cleaned periodically, to avoid overpressure in the bridge housing, contributing to the leakage of oil through the seals. After the mileage specified in the factory manual, check the tightening of the nuts of the bolts connecting the parts of the drive axle housing. Nuts and bolts should be well tightened and secured against self-loosening. Oil leaking from the main gear housing may be caused by damage to the seals of the drive shaft and driveshaft, damage to the cover gasket, or a crack in the cover or housing of the driving axle. All these causes are eliminated by replacing the damaged parts. Oil leakage can also be caused by loose bolts securing the cover.
