In cars powered by LPG, due to the higher temperature in the combustion chamber of the engine, it is recommended to use synthetic oils, Mineral oils oxidize quickly under such conditions. For the same reason, but also due to the high content of nitrogen oxides, mineral oils have a great tendency to nitrate, which significantly worsens the lubricating properties.
A mixture of air and gasoline sucked into the cylinders washes the oil film from the smooth surfaces of the cylinders, which is a disadvantage, but it does lead to sludge removal, deposited on the walls of the combustion chamber and on the valve stems. Gas does not have these properties, therefore the oil should contain cleaning additives, preferably with an adequate reserve of alkaline to neutralize the acid products of combustion.
Taking into account all these requirements, some manufacturers offer oils intended for LPG cars. However, those, who have used good synthetic oils not labeled as oil for gas fueled engines so far, they don't have to give up their habits. The use of special oils facilitates the operation of the car, but it is not necessary. It is important to choose an oil with a low sulfur content and good resistance to elevated operating temperatures. The fuel of Russian origin, which is dominant in our market, is particularly polluted with sulfur compounds, which necessitates the use of high-quality oils.
After installing the gas supply, all we have to do is drive, and this one in cars with modern installations does not differ in any way from the one that burns gasoline. Modern installations automatically switch the type of currently used fuel and do it in a way that is almost imperceptible to the driver. Driving a gas powered car, we just need to pay attention to it, in order not to park in depressions of the ground or over installation channels. It can happen, that the LPG that is heavier than air escaping through the leaks will collect in the lowest places, and then even with such a safe power supply, which, contrary to appearances, LPG fueling turns out to be, it is not difficult to have an accident.
In vans, you may be tempted to attach the tank to the frame, such as. in Lublin cars – between the side member and the body paneling sheet. Either way, it is worth considering carefully the choice and place of installation of the tank, the spare wheel can, in certain situations, be placed on a roof rack or in a trailer. Please note, that a permanently installed tank will change the transport properties of the car.
