In Poland, just like in other European countries, many brands of vans with a permissible total weight up to 3,5 tony, differing significantly in dimensions, drive train and price. Prices start from 60 thousand zlotys, and their upper limit is over 100 thousands. These are not low amounts, so you need to know the shipping tasks carefully before making a purchase, to be fulfilled by the vehicle. By making a choice, it is worth answering a number of questions:
• what goods will be transported?
• what dimensions the transported goods will have and how they will be loaded (in bulk or on pallets)?
• what will be the mass of goods loaded in one working cycle?
• what distances the car will cover during the year?
Only detailed and thoughtful answers will make it possible to precisely select the brand and type of car to perform specific tasks.
Vehicles of this class have holds with a volume of 7-17 m3, three wheelbases, several interior heights and lengths, different types of drive (front or rear), engine, bodywork (containerized, tinplate). So there is a lot to choose from. Of course, such a car should have a permissible total weight below 3,5 tony, so that it can be driven by the holder of a category B license, and above all, for the vehicle to enter most city streets.
It needs to be highlighted that, that the driver of the delivery truck spends a lot of time in the cabin and must be provided with the most comfortable working conditions. Power steering and all devices reducing driver fatigue should be standard. Comfortable and fully adjustable seat, which allows people of different height and body weight to take the correct position. Ergonomically positioned control and adjustment levers as well as numerous compartments for small items and documents are the basic elements of the right equipment. If there is no air conditioning, pay attention to an efficiently operating ventilation system with air recirculation. Air diffusers should be arranged in this way, to prevent the side windows from fogging up.
Certainly, the cabin should be separated from the hold with a full partition wall, necessarily with insulation, which will dampen the noise and will not go into resonance.
Because all kinds of goods are transported by vans, from foodstuffs to light dressings and cigarettes, must have a favorable payload to total weight ratio. It's good, when their hold is that high, that you can move on it in an upright position. Unloading is facilitated by the rear double-wing doors and sliding side doors with a minimum width 1,2 m. Thanks to them, a euro-pallet can easily fit. Please note, that the longer wheelbase and the high roof significantly increase the price of the vehicle, and due to the extra weight they reduce the payload, so you have to make some reasonable compromise when choosing. It is favorable, when the sides of the walls of the hold are factory-fitted with covers to prevent scratching the walls and handles to facilitate the fastening of goods.
