Austriacka spółka Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, which took over in 1899 r. licensed production of Daimler cars, formerly called Maschinenfabrik Bierentz, Fischer Co. and was involved in the production of household appliances.

Paul Daimler, the technical director of the company, replaced in 1905 r. 30-the summer Ferdinand Porsche and the company received a new name - Austro Daimler Gesellschaft. From 1909 r. the company took part in the competition for the Prince Henry of Prussia award (Prince Heinrich Ride), considered the most popular car endurance competitions. Porsche turned out to be a great constructor, fighter and athlete. Within 12 months, he built a car with a 4-cylinder OHC overhead valve engine for this competition 5,9 liter and power 66,2 kW (90 KM), developing maximum speed 146 km/h. In the first competition for the Prince Henry Award, Austro Daimler cars took the first three places.

During the war, Austro Daimler was incorporated into the Skoda concern, at the head of which was Baron von Skoda. After the war, the company presented a representative 6-cylinder car, also by Porsch, mainly produced for export. A luxury car marked with the AD symbol 617 had an in-line engine with a capacity of 4420 cm3. The engine had an OHC overhead valve and developed power 44,1 kW (60 KM).

W 1923 r. Porsche left the company, and its concept was continued by Karl Rabe, under whose leadership further types of AD were developed in different variants. The successful AD M III model had a displacement engine 2994 cm3. The inline 6-cylinder engine with OHC valve timing developed power 80,9 kW (110 KM).
