ALFA ROMEO 8 C 2900 – year 1939

Despite the great success of the 6-cylinder model 1750, produced without interruption to 1934 r., the Alfa Romeo label presented in 1931 r. a new car of the typical series. Maintaining the cylinder size of the previous model, i.e. cylinder diameter 65 mm a of the piston stroke 88 mm, the number of cylinders was increased to eight, so that the dual camshaft engine and compressor had a capacity 2330 cc and developed power 103 kW (140 KM) by 5400 RPM. It consisted of two cylinder blocks and a two-piece crankshaft. The compressor, together with the generator and camshafts, was gear-driven from the center of the crankshaft.
Model 8 C 2300 Monza z 1931 r. had a power increased to 121.3 kW (165 KM) by 5400 RPM. The flexible 8-cylinder car with compressor in the racing version was delivered with separate fenders and special headlights. It owes its name to the victory of Tazio Novolari and Giuseppe Campari in the 10-hour race for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
In the years 1932—1933 Alfa Romeo cars beat the Bugatti brand, which until then reigned supreme in races. Such great drivers are behind the wheel of Alfa Romeo racing cars, how: Nuvolari, Brozacchini, Caracciola, Chiron, Fagioli and many others won six Grand Prix out of eight possible and won the Targa Flario, Copa Acerbo and other major competitions. W 1932 r. took the first three places in the races for the ACF Grand Prix in Reims and for the German Grand Prix at the Nurnburggring.
W 1937 r. the company introduced a stronger version - the 8-cylinder model 8 C 2900. By increasing the engine capacity to 2905 cm3, it was possible to achieve a power of 132.3 kW (180 KM), allowing you to develop maximum speed 200 km/h. During the two-year production, a total of were released 30 copies of this vehicle.
